EyeCare Hospital’s eye camp initiative is making significant strides across the Maldives, providing essential eye care services to residents in atolls. The journey that restarted last year after Covid19, began in Kaafu atoll following lhaviyani, meemu, gaaf alif and gaaf dhaal atolls. Our last camp was conducted in Shaviyani Atoll, where the team visited islands including Kanditheemu, Maaungoodhoo, Feydhoo, Foakaidhoo, Milandhoo, Lhaimagu, and Komandoo. In collaboration with local health centers, the EyeCare team conducted eye screenings to identify eye health issues and ensured residents received necessary care on-site.

The team is currently in Noonu Atoll, where they have already screened residents in Velidhoo, Holhudhoo and Kedhikulhudhoo, with plans to reach additional islands, including Landhoo and Maafaru.

The goal of this initiative is not only to provide screenings but also to raise awareness about preventable eye conditions such as refractive errors, cataracts, and glaucoma, encouraging early intervention and regular eye check-ups. EyeCare’s commitment to making eye care more accessible across the Maldives fosters a culture of proactive health management.

This initiative showcases the power of community collaboration, as EyeCare works alongside local health centers and engages communities in their health journeys. With each successful camp, EyeCare Hospital reaffirms its dedication to ensuring everyone has access to the eye care they need, building a clearer, healthier future for the Maldives.
